Experienced dancers and newcomers
with a passion for dance are warmly welcomed. Our members range from
about 11 to over 60! We are based at POSK in Hammersmith where we rehearse most Fridays. Please email
us at enquiries@tatry.org.uk if you are interested.
What do you need when you start dancing?
Everyone needs some comfortable footwear which provides a bit of slip and a bit of grip. Trainers tend to grip too much and are not really suitable. Jazz dance or character shoes are very good but there is no firm rule. A Light T-Shirt is best on top as it can get very warm! Joggers or shorts are worn by most men while the girls prefer to wear light but full skirts which give something of the feel of the dance. For performances most of what you need is available from our wardrobe.
When do we practice?
The main classes are on Fridays and start at 7.30 pm and go on to 9.30 pm. We
occasionally have elementary classes on Tuesdays from 8.00 to 9.30. Our year follows the academic pattern of three terms. After the class many of the dancers go for a bite to eat in one of the the POSK restaurants. When there is a major show planned with new dances, there are occasionally some additional classes which usually happen on Sundays.
How much does it cost?
Tatry operates as an independent group and is self-supporting.
Members make a small contribution each term to cover tuition, room hire and
musician's fees. Our very extensive costume wardrobe is financed by the fees we charge for shows.
